Lair Stay
Category: Hospitality
Location: Auroville
Status: In Progress
Year: 2026
Set within the wooded, low-density fabric of Auroville, Lair Stay reimagines the boutique guest experience as an immersion in landscape rather than an escape from it. The design treats accommodation as a series of sheltered vantage points — spaces to retreat into, and spaces to look out from.
- Landscape as Threshold: Built form recedes behind existing tree cover, with circulation and stay units arranged to preserve sightlines into the surrounding canopy.
- Elevated Privacy: Raised platforms and staggered volumes give each stay a sense of seclusion without walling guests off from the site.
- Material Restraint: A pared-back material palette — earth tones, natural textures — lets the landscape remain the primary visual language of the project.
- Slow Architecture: Spaces designed for unhurried dwelling, with framed views and transitional verandahs that blur the edge between built and unbuilt.
Currently in progress, Lair Stay continues the studio’s interest in hospitality design that roots itself in place rather than imposing on it.
